Original Oil Paintings and Limited Edition Giclees

“My artistic passion is in the intimacy of the details.”

.Biography

At 28 with three small children at home, I picked up my brushes for the first time. I learned of a new art class beginning in my hometown and knew I must learn. I was moved how such detail could be achieved with oil paint.

Following a series of classes to learn the basics, I moved on and for the next several years continued with self study creating my own signature style. I focused on painting the innocence of Native American children in their full ceremonial dress and also the waterfowl inhabiting the National bird refuges near my home in Oregon. The results were rewarding and I received invitations to exhibit my art in shows and galleries throughout the western states.

My painting career was interrupted by life, as often happens, but it was never far from my heart. I painted commissioned portraits, visited art museums and studied the works and techniques of the great Masters of the 16th and 17th centuries.

I went back to school and began a career as an interior designer. After several years this led into retail home décor. My artistic abilities were expressed with elaborate store displays in my three shops and through buying and selling other peoples’ art.

These valued experiences gave me a new broader perspective regarding color and design and carry over to my current work. I have now come full circle and I’m devoting my time exclusively to painting.

I am moved by the intimacy of a simple flower in my garden; how the light of the sun can radiate through them and create breath-taking color. In my attempt to capture this magic, I begin with a complete under painting as did the old Masters. This step is then followed with layers and layers of sheer veils of pure color creating luminosity, depth, and brilliance.

I hope the viewer will enjoy my work as much as I have had in their creation.
